. . .a new documentary by Kevin Rafferty just might be one of the best sports films ever.
In November 1968, the Harvard and Yale football teams - both undefeated for the first time since 1901 - met to play the final game of their seasons. The rosters included future Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones and future NFL star Calvin Hill. Yale's captain, Brian Dowling, had already become famous as B. D. in his classmate Garry Trudeau's Doomsbury comic strip. Many of the players appear, and after 40 years, they remember every snap, pass, and fumble. There's even footage of the game itself. The movie allows you to see what America was like back in 1968, with war protesters on both sides of the field, and a Harvard players who was actually a Vietnam veteran.
Check out the movie trailer, and look for it at select theaters in town.
