ANOTHER TYPE OF TALENT TO ADMIRE. . .

. . .Kseniya Simonova was the winner of Ukraine's version of "America's Got Talent." So what was her talent?  Creating a sand painting of her interpretation of Germany's occupation of the Ukraine in WWII. 

To be honest, I read about this "sand painting" talent and thought it sounded totally dumb, but now that I have lots more free time, I decided to check out the video.  Let me tell you, it was profoundly moving, and the girl definitely has a unique sense of talent.  The audience, and one judge, were brought to tears.  As you watch her create her vision with music in the background, at times sweet, strong, vicious, her painting moves through a tragic sequence of events.

In the eight-and-a-half-minute clip, set to an appropriately dramatic score, the young woman deftly paints the story, through constantly changing images using sand and a light table, of the German invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II. 

I'm not sure what Kseniya can do with type of talent in the future, but it was a winner on "Ukraine's Got Talent."

. . . Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda are coming back to the big screen, and I can't wait to see the new movie.  Rumors are swirling about plot lines, pictures have been posted on the web, and everyone is excited to see what will happen for the girls of New York City.

OPRAH. . .TALKS ABOUT HER INTERVIEW WITH WHITNEY HOUSTON. . .

. . .I was oh so looking forward to the premier of The Oprah Winfrey Show today, her 24th year on TV, and even had my DVR set on Channel 8, 4:00 pm.  When I turned on the tv, CBS had pushed off the show and instead I was watching men's finals of the US Open Tennis Tournament.  Not only was it pushed aside, but CBS decided to view the show, with the first of two-parts with Whitney Houston, at 1:38 am tonight.  YIKES!!!!  Who's going to watch it at time of the night?????  Luckily, I have set my DVR to tape the show, and I can't wait to wake up tomorrow morning to watch Whitney talk about living with Bobby Brown in a drug-induced stupor.

Instead, here's Oprah being interviewed this morning, about her interview with Whitney Houston.

MAIL CALL. . .

. . .Did you know that President Obama reads and answers some of the mail he receives at the White House on a daily basis?  Of the 65,000 letters, 100,000 emails, and thousands of phone calls he receives, the President has a staff that selects 10 letters a day that he reads.  His purpose for reading these letters is to keep in touch with Americans, and he says that these letters are "a powerful motivator for me."  

It's amazing to me that the President of the United States makes time to read and respond to citizens when he's busy taking care of national and international problems.  Watch the video and listen to what he has to say about his mail.

THE CHULA VISTA BLUE BOMBERS. . .AND CONAN O'BRIEN. . .

Winning this year's Little League Championship in front of cameras televised throughout the world was a dream come true for the Chula Vista Blue Bombers.

Last night the Blue Bombers visited The Tonight Show and were poised, thoughtful, and happy as they were interviewed by Conan O'Brien.  Although they were in front of a small studio audience in comparison to the audience that watched their final game last Sunday, Conan expressed his own personal sentiments along with the nation's pride for their unbelievable accomplishment.

Way to go Chula Vista Blue Bombers!
