. . .one very creative couple decided to announce their upcoming wedding date to all their friends in a very unique way. Instead of sending an invitation or a refrigerator magnet, they put together a video that has gone viral on YouTube. Almost 500,000 viewers have been delighted to watch Jeff and Erin's wedding trailer.

. . .Walkscore is a website that rates the walkability of your neighborhood. It takes into account whether your neighborhood has a grocery store, school, library, park, and other resources necessary to a community, and all available by just walking a fair distance rather than driving a car.
I went to the website and entered my address in San Carlos, and according to the site my neighborhood rated a 54 out of 100, which is considered Somewhat Walkable.
The number one walkable city in America is San Francisco, which beat out New York City at number two, followed by Boston and Chicago. The only thing not included in determining the walkability of a city is weather, which would definitely rank San Diego much higher than the four other locations mentioned.
Click on the link, enter your home address and see how walkable your neighborhood is, along side the other 2,500 neighborhoods in the United States.

. . .while I was on my cruise to the western Caribbean, Haiti was struck by an earthquake so powerful that its capital, Port au Prince is now in ruins.
Once the Liberty of the Seas landed in Miami, it restocked the ship, took on new passengers, and proceeded on to its next cruise. Labadee, a port on the other side of Haiti, and an area spared by the earthquake, was one of the ports of call, and the ship brought much needed supplies to those in the capital city.
Thousands and thousands of people are dead, and despite daily efforts, countless people have vanished. The world has responded with huge donations, and man-power from America is being brought in to help this country out of the devastation.
Each and every one of us can help, if only by sending a few dollars, or a pair of shoes that you don't need.
The Red Cross needs us, so give up a bottle of water, or something else that you can do without, and help those that need it more than ourselves.
Text the word "HAITI" to 90990 to make a $10 donation to the Red Cross. You will see the donation on your cell phone bill next month.
Men's, women's and children's shoes are being collected by Sports Chalet stores, and will be sent to Soles4Souls, an organization that will distribute them to the Haitian people.
Locations of Sports Chalet in San Diego: Pt. Loma Plaza, University Towne Center, and Westfield Mission Valley.
Make the effort, and it will make you feel that you have the power to help someone who is dire need.

. . .from Florida, and a wonderful cruise. I have tons of pictures (what else is new?) and many great memories.
Unfortunately I caught a cold, and am trying to nurse myself back to health. I'm watching the rain come down in my already soaked back yard, and missing the sunshine.
What's the best thing about being back home? My comfy, big bed!
Give me a day or two, and stop on by to see my pictures of the Mayan pyramids!

. . .a lingerie ad from a German company, Liaison Dangereuse, is causing quite a stir. It begins very innocently, with a beautiful woman getting out of the shower and getting dressed, but there's an unexpected twist in the last moments of the ad.
Very provocative, very sensual, very unexpected.
Personally, I love the video.

. . .even though it seems as if I just unpacked and posted my pictures of my cruise to the Middle East, I'm once again preparing for another cruise. This time I'm going with a group of friends to Belize, Playa Maya, and Cozumel, and then a few extra days in Fort Lauderdale.
As you know, I absolutely hate to pack and planned to only take one suitcase filled with warm-weather clothes, but I've checked the weather forecasts and it appears that I will have to take a coat, umbrella, hat, scarf, and gloves because the weather in Florida has been in the 40s. . .outrageously cold!
This time my home-away-from-home will be the Liberty of the Seas, and we are leaving from Miami. Unlike the ship I was on in November, the Liberty is fully loaded with many exciting features: a surf park, full-size boxing ring, a water park with ground geysers, and flat screen TV in each room. Although I probably won't be enjoying most of those features, I will definitely have lots of friends close-by and 3 tours that will include seeing ruins in each destination.
So, I'm off to pack my bag and pray that the weather is better than expected.
